Counselling.

What is Counselling?

Counselling can help people to gain more clarity and understanding about them-selves
and challenging experiences in their lives. Counselling provides a confidential, supportive
and focused environment, for exploring ways of managing that feel more effective and empowering

What is the Difference Between Counselling and Psychotherapy?

Counselling tends to be more short term, rather than longer term but this is not always the case. A great deal also depends upon the therapist and their therapeutic approach. For an Information Sheet about the Counsellor, their qualifications and counselling approach please ring the number above

What Type of Issues Can Counselling Help With?

Some of the many issues that maybe relevant during counselling are:

Being unhappy about your:
Feelings – (Stress, anxiety, depression, loss, grief, anger)
Thinking – (confusion, limiting beliefs, problems making decisions, repetitive negative thoughts)
Behaviour – (Procrastination, actions that have unhelpful consequences, unhealthy habits)

Life Circumstances: Including family and relationships, work pressure, financial difficulties, health and disability, bullying and harassment, bereavement, legal problems etc

What Can I Expect During the First Counselling Session?
During the first session you will have an opportunity to meet the counsellor and to talk about what
you are hoping to gain from counselling. This is also a good time to gain more information about
how the counsellor works, to ask any questions and for you both to decide whether to agree to a short number of counselling sessions which will be reviewed by you both before agreeing to any further sessions
